How in the world is it already the year 2020? Does anyone else feel like this year has just flown by? Saying goodbye to 2019 almost feels surreal. So much has happened this past year, and it is the year that we truly began putting our little farm plans into action.
I have so many accomplishments that I am super proud of. One accomplishment is learning how to work with old fashioned sourdough starter. Not the kind with added commercial modern day yeast. I’m talking the kind that your great great great grandmother used to make. Baking sourdough bread and other sourdough goodies for my family speaks to my soul. Stay tuned for my favorite recipes that will be shared here on the blog.
Another accomplishment that I am proud of that took place in 2019 is the chicken coop, chicken run, and the flock of chickens that were added to the back yard. I have always had dreams of waking up with my kids, walking out to the chicken coop and collecting our breakfast. I truly didn’t expect my chickens to start laying eggs until next spring, but a few of them surprised us this fall. We love our chickens! We spend a lot of time with them.
Dreams about the future have been filling a notebook for quite a while now. 2020 will bring a lot of other new accomplishments that I can’t wait to share with you… starting with goats! Goats are the one thing that I am most excited about adding to the farm. But that’s not all! An enormous garden is also in the works. But what makes these additions so exciting is what we plan to do with them. I’m not quite ready to share that with you yet, but I can’t wait to see these dreams unfold. I can’t wait to see my children get involved, and they seem to be just as excited about it as I am.
Creating a farm or homestead is a slow process, especially if you want to stay out of debt. I can’t wait until the day arrives when this little farm actually brings in an income to help support our family and our dreams. Our little notebook of dreams is filling up, and 2019 was such a huge year for us. But I also know that 2020 will top it!
